Meet Little Baby Alexander Jacob Wheeler : Watching your child's birth is such an amazing experience that it's hard to describe in words. So, I'm just going to tell it like it was.

Oneea woke me up at 4am on Saturday morning (June 21st) and said, "Dan, I think my water broke." I was completely asleep, but woke up quickly when I literally heard a splash on our bedroom floor. This was a clear sign that after 38 weeks of waiting, it was now Oneea's time to shine. She hadn't started contractions at this point, so we figured we'd wait and see what happened next. Well, the contractions started soon enough, and within an hours time, Oneea was having fierce contractions that were occurring every five minutes. We packed up, hurried out of the house, and dropped Niko off at a nearby friends house (Thank you again Neel and Meera!!). We made it to the hospital with no problems, were admitted and Oneea was checked by our midwife. What she said completely surprised me...."We need to get going, this baby is coming out now!" I asked her what she meant, and she put it to me in numbers..."Oneea is 9 and 3/4 cm dilated and I can feel the baby's head." I figured this would be an all day experience, but I now realized we were almost done even though we had just started. The nurses gathered and Oneea began pushing. She focused and listened intently to the instruction of the nurses and midwife. Within 40 minutes of arriving at the hospital, Oneea delivered the newest member of the Wheeler family. He was a beautiful (and I can't stress this enough) baby boy. We were both instantly in love. Here's to the newest member of our family...

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Alex from the camera phone : The cameraphone has been a huge asset. Lots of pictures "in the moment". They may not be the finest quality, but they definitely show how happy little Alex is.
